c/side is a fast-growing cybersecurity platform that specializes in monitoring 3rd-party JavaScripts, a critical vector for modern web-based threats. By leveraging modern design and AI-powered features, c/side transforms massive, complex datasets into clear, actionable insights, empowering security teams to identify and mitigate risks quickly and effectively.

Scope
New feature, Redesign, Design system
c/side clients approached Salty Fish Studio right after their 8M seed funding with the goal of overhauling the user experience, UI and design system for scaling up and supporting the next phase of growth of their platform. They wanted to identify areas of opportunity within their current platform and integrate 8 new key features.
My role is leading the project externally with c/side PM, PO and engineers, and internally mentor and guide the other 2 designers, and overseeing their day to day workflow.

Problems:

Insufficient Use of Screen Space
The interface is not utilizing the available screen real estate effectively, leading to a cluttered or sparse design that hampers user experience.


Hard for scaling up with more features and data points.
The current design does not accommodate future growth, making it difficult to add new features or handle larger datasets without compromising usability.

Lack of enterprise, team, organization in navigation system.
The navigation system does not support enterprise-level needs, such as managing teams, organizations, or multiple user roles.

Results:

The c/side platform with 8 key new features and redesigned UI 
experience shipped in Jan 2025. By leveraging the UX Audit and comparision, the team gained clarity on product improvements as well as the future design direction.
  • By optimizing user flows and sitemaps, the team reduced friction, improved usability, and aligned the experience with familiar user patterns.
  • In addition, by developing a design system with brand guidelines, we were able to shorten and improve flows within the product experience to align with patterns the users were familiar with.
  • The updated UI patterns optimized layout and use of screen space, making it more visually intuitive and effective for users demands
